This week Go Holiday DIY looks at trips to London

Where: Two days in London
When: June 6th-June 8th
With a tour operator Ebookers.ie has a weekend package (well, it's just 32 hours and five minutes, as it happens) for two people in a four-star hotel, with a price tag of more than €650. The deal will see us stay in the Washington Mayfair Hotel, a "fabulously located property" that, ebookers suggests, is an "excellent choice". It's on a side street in Mayfair, between Park Lane, Bond Street and Piccadilly. Our BMI flights leave Dublin at 9.50pm on Friday and arrive at London Heathrow at 10.55pm, leaving us little time that night. On Sunday morning ebookers would have us depart Heathrow at 7am. As part of an eBookers.ie "special offer" a continental breakfast is included in the price - although, given our early departure time on Sunday, it's unlikely we'd have time to avail of it.
How much?
Total
€653.94, including taxes and fees.

On your ownThe cost of booking on the hotel website -  www.washington-mayfair.co.uk- is £139 per night, a total of £278 (€348.78) for the weekend. This does not include breakfast, and the continental variety costs £15.50 (€19.40) per person per day. For two mornings this adds £62 to our bill of £340 (€426.81). Ryanair has flights to Stansted that weekend initially costing €9.99 each. We have no bags so avoid extra charges. Our flight leaves Dublin at 1.40pm and returns nearly two days later, at 12.30pm. Once all the charges are added, the ticket price rises to €151.94, plus €16 in "handling charges" because we pay with a credit card.
