To celebrate 100 years since furniture designer Hans Wegner began working with Carl Hansen & Son, there are exhibitions of his work being staged worldwide.

In Ireland, Leila Ahmedova, who runs the Nordic Living furniture company, has organised a show of his work at the Urban Retreat Gallery in the Dublin Docklands.

Wegner studied carpentry and then went to art school before working for Arne Jacobsen, he of Egg Chair fame (among other designs).

Wegner himself is probably best known for his Wishbone chair, in sleek curved wood, although his other key chairs also speak of how nature inspired him: Ox Chair, Papa Bear Chair and Shell Chair.
