Are you a young, talented, dynamic professional? If so, the Institute of European Affairs in North Great Georges Street, Dublin, would like to hear from you. It has recently launched a Young Professionals Network to connect professional men and women with their peers from the private and public sectors, business and legal circles, government and the media. Members, of which there are already some 300, can engage directly with high-profile business people, politicians, and others of influence.
Recently, Peter Sutherland spoke to a captivated audience on his life and times and reflected on the Ireland of today, while Minister Eamon Ryan launched the network and discussed the issue of sustainability with members. Later, businessman Gary McGann switched the focus to economic prosperity, stock-market turbulence and the impact of the international credit crisis.
Membership is free and each event begins with a glass of wine and an opportunity to network. A blog (futureofeurope.blogspot.com) provides a forum for members to express their views and continue discussions between events. To join, call 01-8746756 or e-mail jill.farrelly@iiea.com.
