Malone's luck runs out

Luck just wasn't in for Breda Malone in Ardee during the past week as she had the unfortunate "honour" of taking runners-up spot in two of the club's weekly events.

In partnership with Bernie Breen (16), the 12 handicapper recorded a respectable 36 points in the Australian Spoons event, but they were still three points shy of winners Sandra Watters (23) and Ann Farrelly (19), who won with 39 points.

And then in the singles competition, she was again three points adrift of the winner, this time Rita Black (7) who won the Class One with 36 points.

Other Class winners on the day were Breda Drumgoole (28) and Mary McCann, who shot 36 and 35 points respectively.
