The Irish Times Trust has announced the appointment of three governors to The Irish Times Trust CLG.
Bernard Harbor served as head of communications with the trade union Fórsa until December 2022. He was a ministerial special adviser and director of communications and media for President Michael D Higgins’s 2018 re-election campaign. He is a member of the executive boards of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (Ictu) and Tasc (Ireland’s think-tank for action on social change) and is a life fellow of the Irish Institute of Public Relations.
David Sterling was head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) from 2017 until January 2020. His previous career encompassed a variety of roles within the NICS, including permanent secretary in both the departments of finance and enterprise, trade and investment. He is currently chair of Northern Ireland Screen and the Chief Executives’ Forum. He is also an EY Associate and a board member of Ulster Wildlife, the Cancer Fund for Children, the Centre for Cross Border Studies and Women in Business NI.
Fiach Mac Conghail is chief executive of Dublin-based technology and digital business group the Digital Hub. He is a former director and chief executive of the Abbey Theatre and former artistic director of the Project Arts Centre. He served as cultural policy adviser to the minister for arts, sports and tourism from 2002-2005, and was an independent senator from 2011-2016. A recipient of the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and an Eisenhower Fellow, he is a board member of the Fondation Irlandaise which manages the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris.
