The owners of the Ballinasloe amusement arcade where Mr John Kennedy was murdered last week are offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his killing.

As the Garda search for the killer continued in Galway this week, the owners of the Funworld arcade said they were offering the reward because Mr Kennedy had been a "loyal, dedicated and trusted employee" for nine years.

Gardai investigating the murder say there was no sign of a break-in at the arcade and they now believe he probably knew his killer. They have again appealed to people in the vicinity of the town's main street on the night of the murder to come forward. His body was discovered in the early hours of August 19th. A search for a murder weapon has so far yielded no results.

Meanwhile, an elderly widow in the town has been robbed by thieves who called to her house pretending they were gardai investigating Mr Kennedy's murder. While one man kept her occupied at the front door, another entered the house through the back door and took jewellery worth about £4,000.
