Around 100 gardaí will take off for France today to compete in the Paris Marathon in aid of Goal.
The members will be met by Irish Ambassador to France, Ms Anne Anderson, at a reception at the Irish Embassy on arrival, before taking part in the marathon tomorrow.
Each of the participants — who are funding their own expenses — has pledged to raise a minimum of €1,000.
The officers plan to hand over more than €100,000 to the cause.
A garda spokesman said the officers concerned were drawn primarily from the Special Detective Unit at Harcourt Square and other stations and sections throughout the Dublin Metropolitan Region and Garda Headquarters.
"The Garda Commissioner, Mr Fachtna Murphy, on his own behalf and on behalf of all members of An Garda Siochana, has extended best wishes to the Gardai involved," he added.
