An accident victim who was injured in a fall in a bus has been awarded £17,700 damages for personal injuries. The Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Smyth, heard yesterday that Mrs Elizabeth Armstrong had been thrown into the bus stairwell, striking her head against the automatic fares machine and breaking her right arm.
Mr Shaymus O'Quigley, for Mrs Armstrong, of Dunard Avenue, Dublin, told the court her left arm had been damaged by an injury to the nerve when she was young.
After the bus accident she had been "effectively immobilised" in a body bandage for six months until last June. Her husband had to wash, dress and feed her and he still had to vacuum clean and carry out heavy work.
