A 17-year-old youth died today following a boating tragedy in Northern Ireland, police said.
The youth was with two men on Lough Neagh when their boat sank amid stormy weather just off Ballyronan, Co Derry.
The others, aged 24 and 40, managed to swim to shore. A major search operation was launched involving the coastguard, a British army helicopter and police.
The teenager was located close to shore and paramedics gave him first aid before taking him to hospital.

"He was in a critical condition and later died," a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said.
"We are investigating the death on behalf of the coroner." The two who survived were treated for shock and hypothermia.
