£180,000 drugs haul in Dublin

A man was being questioned by gardai early today after the seizure in Dublin of cannabis worth about £180,000.

A man was being questioned by gardai early today after the seizure in Dublin of cannabis worth about £180,000.

The man, a Spanish national, was arrested after Garda and Customs officers raided a room in a city centre hotel. About 18 kilos of cannabis resin, which had been imported through Dublin airport earlier yesterday, was found in a suitcase.

Members of the Customs' national drugs team, the Garda national drugs unit and the north central drugs unit based at Store Street Garda station were involved in the raid, which took place at about 8 p.m.

The arrested man was being held at Store Street station.
