A £1 million programme for juvenile offenders was provided in the Budget. The fund, to be administered by the Probation and Welfare Service, will be spent on programmes in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Gal way. However, the Government made no specific allocation for the drug courts project which is due to start in the Dublin District Court in February.
Yesterday's announcements also included £300,000 to be spent on six new Garda special projects - four in the Dublin area and the others in Waterford and Bray.
