Aer Lingus has confirmed that two of its staff members were on the Air France flight that went missing over the Atlantic yesterday.

In a short statement, the airline said two staff members were among those lost as a result of the disappearance of Air France AF 447.

It did not provide any further details about the two missing people.

"Aer Lingus would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the staff and all those lost in this terrible accident. The airline is providing support services to staff who may have been affected by this incident," the statement said.
