TWO men questioned about the murder last September of a Co Limerick farmer have been released without charge

TWO men questioned about the murder last September of a Co Limerick farmer have been released without charge. They were held in connection with the death of Mr John Cusack, (57), a farmer and cattle dealer who was found dead outside his home in Meentulla, Murroe, Co Limerick.

Det Insp Willie Keane of Henry Street Garda station, Limerick, said yesterday that both men had been arrested on Friday morning under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act. One of the men was released on Friday night within the initial 24 hour arrest period allowed under the Act. The second man was held for a further 24 hours and released on Saturday night. The men are in their 20s.

Mr Cusack, a separated father of seven, was discovered with gunshot wounds to his back and head. His home was in an isolated, rural area and robbery was not believed to have been a motive as money was found in his pocket and there was no evidence of a break in.
