Two US soldiers and three Iraqis have been killed and several others wounded today in two separate attacks north of Baghdad.
A military spokesman said a soldier died when a bomb was detonated at around 8.25 a.m. (5.25 Irish time) in the town of Baquba, 65 kilometres north of Baghdad.
In a separate incident a US soldier died and another was injured in a gun battle after their patrol was attacked by guerrillas.
Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, deputy director of operations for the US army in Iraq, said the soldier was killed near Taji yesterday. US forces returned fire and killed three attackers, Kimmitt said.
