Traffic was disrupted in Dublin city centre today when an estimated 200 people participated in a Reclaim the Streets protest.
The demonstrators, who were protesting at the influence of the G8 group, gathered at the Spike on O'Connell Street and marched down O'Connell St. A couple of dozen protesters converged on Beresford Place where a couple of dozen uniformed gardaí maintained a presence.
Earlier, several dozen cyclists participated in a Critical Mass protest and slowed traffic as they cycled along several of Dublin's city centre streets.
A May Day protest organised by the same group three years ago was marked by violent demonstrations and allegations of Garda brutality.
