A couple yesterday won extra costs incurred after a delay on one Ryanair flight led to them missing an onward flight to Norway with the same company.
Mr Seán and Ms Vera Fox from Glasnevin in Dublin sued the airline for hotel and flight transfer fees arising out of a trip to see friends in Norway in July last year. There was no appearance on behalf of the company.
The Dublin Small Claims Court heard they booked a flight from Dublin to Stansted and Stansted to Haugesund on the Internet.
Mr Fox said they gave themselves two hours between flights. When they arrived at Dublin Airport, they learned that the first flight was delayed for 20 minutes.
"It actually took off an hour and 25 minutes late and when we and a number of other people who also had onward flights made our situation known to the hostess, we were quite frankly treated with total indifference."
The couple paid £40 to Ryanair for a flight the next day and £110 to overnight in a hotel near Stansted.
Judge Bridget Reilly said: "Ryanair may have a defence, but it is undefended here today and I am awarding you €277.64."
