An international health conference which begins in Dublin today will discuss topics including HIV, herpes and skin cancer. More than 3,300 delegates from 65 countries are attending the 6th Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, which runs until Sunday.

The Minister for Health, Mr Cowen, will officially open the Congress tonight at University College Dublin. It is the first time it has been held in Ireland. According to Dr Derek Freedman, a genito-urinary physician at St James's Hospital in Dublin, who is the congress president, the conference will be addressed by more than 500 speakers and will be one of the largest such events ever organised in the State.
