Three people appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with a Garda investigation into an alleged drug trafficking and money laundering operation.
Former Kildare footballer Mr Brian Nolan (34), Roebuck Park, Clonskeagh, Dublin, was charged with two counts of money laundering last September involving approximately £45,000.
Mr David McCreevy (23), Belgard Heights, Tallaght, Dublin, and Mr Jason Lennon (21), also Belgard Heights, were charged with possession of £100,000 worth of heroin allegedly found in the back garden of a house at The Crescent, Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, last Tuesday.
Dublin District Court heard Mr Nolan was arrested at Store Street on Wednesday night and after he was charged replied: "Nothing to say, I did not know it was drugs money".
Mr McCreevy and Mr Lennon made no reply after they were charged.
Garda∅ did not object to bail for any of the accused provided there were a number of conditions imposed.
Judge Peter Smithwick set bail from Mr Nolan in his own bond of £3,000 on condition that his passport was handed in and remanded him to appear again on December 12th. Bail for Mr McCreevy and Mr Lennon was set in their own bonds of £900 with independent sureties of £10,000 each. They were remanded in custody to Cloverhill District Court for a week with consent to bail.
