A man has been jailed for three years for his role in taking a £20,000 jeep and stealing equipment valued at £5,000 from a factory in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow, last December.

Martin Connolly (20), of Greenfort Crescent, Clondalkin, was found in a ditch after the jeep crashed into a Mercedes car and wrote it off, Judge Cyril Kelly was told in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

Garda Tony Ryan agreed with Mr Breffni Gordon, defending, that Connolly was the passenger in the jeep. He made a full statement after his arrest admitting his role in taking the jeep and the burglary.
