Galway Airport and Aer Arann today announced the creation of 30 new jobs with the opening of a new hangar at the facility.
Aer Arann will carry out most of its maintanance work at the new hangar.
Joe Walsh, general manager of Galway Airport, said today that he was "thrilled" with the construction of the new hangar facility.
"This is phase one of a major investment programme by Galway Airport costing €12 million over the next three years in conjunction with Transport 21 Programme," said Mr Walsh. "We are delighted that Aer Arann will base their engineering facility here in Galway airport which we hope will facility further route expansion from the airport."
Aer Arann also today announced a new route from Galway Airport to Newcastle, England.
The flights will operate four days a week, departing from Galway on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Fares will cost from €45 one way with a flight time of one hour 25 minutes.
