Cadiz - Spanish police arrested 308 illegal African immigrants off the country's southern coast over the weekend, local authorities in the southern city of Cadiz said yesterday. A boat carrying 48 immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa was intercepted off the southern tip of Spain at Tarifa overnight, said authorities, who had already announced the arrests of 135 Moroccans on board three boats early yesterday.
A further 17 illegal immigrants were picked near Almeria, and 25 North Africans were detained after landing near Tarifa. On Saturday 83 illegal immigrants were arrested.
