An art dealer and his wife, both injured in a crossroads car crash in Co Wicklow, have been awarded almost £34,000 damages for personal injuries.

Mr Derek Shortall, and his wife, Susan, of Rathmines Park, Dublin, still suffer from neck pain, their counsel, Mr Finbarr Fox, told the Circuit Civil Court. They each sued Gateaux Ltd, of Wilton Place, Dublin, and company driver, Mr Eamonn Philips, for £30,000 damages. Mr David McGrath, counsel for the company, claimed the roads on which both vehicles were driving were of equal status.

The accident occurred at Merigstown, Dunlavin, Co Wicklow, in April, 1993.
