Moscow - Repairs to Moscow's Ostankino television tower, which burst into flames on August 27th, will cost 1.1 billion rubles ($39.6 million), a Russian official said yesterday, cited by news agencies.
Europe's highest structure needs new lifts, and the majority of the 149 steel cables supporting the tower will have to be replaced, said Mr Anvar Shamuzafarov, head of the state construction committee.
He said that only 22 support cables were left intact after the blaze.
