Nairobi - At least 39 people were killed when armed cattle rustlers attacked villages in western Kenya's Marakwet district early yesterday, state radio reported.
It said that the raiders, believed to be Pokot tribesmen from the neighbouring West Pokot district, drove away 1,000 heads of cattle and 2,000 goats during the predawn raid. More than 300 homes were torched, the report said.
