Four men and a woman from North Africa were being held for questioning at three Dublin Garda stations this morning on suspicion of having connections with an international terrorist organisation.

The woman and two of the men are from Libya, while the other men are from Egypt and Algeria. They were arrested before 8 a.m. yesterday at houses in Tallaght, Terenure and the South Circular Road and in a city-centre hotel.

They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Harcourt Terrace, Kevin Street and Terenure Garda stations.

They can be held for up to 48 hours and gardai can seek a further 24-hour detention period through the courts.
