The emergency services were called to the M62, near Manchester, shortly after 3.10pm today following reports of a collision on the eastbound carriageway, near the J12 exit.

Police and paramedics attended and found that five vehicles, including two coaches with schoolchildren on board, two transit vans and a car, had been involved.

One of the coach drivers is being treated for a suspected broken leg and about 49 people are being treated for minor injuries.
