An investigation by the FBI and China's Ministry of Public Security has led to multiple arrests and the seizure of over $500 million worth of counterfeit software.
The operation led to the arrest of 25 people, asset seizures by the Chinese government worth over $7 million and the seizure of over 290,000 counterfeit CDs, including those of Microsoft and Symantec software, as well as certificates of authenticity in China, worth an estimated $500 million.
FBI agents in Los Angeles seized about $2 million worth of counterfeit software products and assets worth over $700,000.
The operation, known as "Summer Solstice," began in 2005 with police agencies in both countries working to investigate groups who make and distribute counterfeit software.
