Two people were killed in an accident in north Dublin last night. The accident happened shortly before 10 p.m. on the Tonglagee Road, Coolock. A motor cyclist was in collision with another car. The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 30s, was taken to Beaumont hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His pillion passenger, a 13 year old boy, was taken to Temple St Children's Hospital, where he died shortly after midnight. Both victims, whose names have not yet been released, are from the same estate in Coolock.

In Co Waterford, Ms Muirin Murray (22), of Helvick, Ring, died after her car left the road at Knockenpower, Ring, yesterday afternoon.

In Co Kildare, Mr Charles McLoughlin (23), of Rhode, Co Offaly, died in an accident at Coill Dubh, Robertstown. Gardai said no other vehicle was involved in either incident.

In Dublin, two people died and three people were injured in a two car collision on the junction of the Long Mile and Naas roads. The dead were named as Mr Mark Garland (20), of Castle Avenue, Coolock, and Mr Stephen Haugh (20), of Foxfield Avenue, Kilbarrack.
