The Irish Times on the Web was visit almost 600,000 times on St Patrick's Day. Fully-audited figures will be available at end of the month. Statistics showed that the website had 3,482,867 "hits" and 597,891 visits in the 24-hour period, a fourfold increase on Patrick's Day 1997.
