Gardai in north Co Dublin had, by yesterday, dug up at least £65,000 in cash which is believed to have been buried in wooded land near Portmarnock by criminals. The money was stashed in plastic containers buried in woodland between Port marnock and Malahide. A local man walking his dog on Sunday evening came across some of the money and alerted gardai. The money is believed to be the proceeds of either drug dealing or a robbery by north Dublin criminals some time in the past year.

Detectives are checking serial numbers on the notes to see if they match notes from any bank or post office raids.
