More than £70,000 worth of drugs were found in three separate operations in the Republic and Northern Ireland yesterday.

More than £70,000 worth of drugs were found in three separate operations in the Republic and Northern Ireland yesterday.

Over £20,000 worth of heroin was seized by gardai in a raid on a flat in O'Connell Avenue, off Berkeley Road, in Dublin's north inner city. Three men and a woman, all in their 20s, were detained at Fitzgibbon Street Garda station and in Mountjoy prison under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

Gardai and Customs officers seized heroin with a street value of £10,000 from two passengers as they walked off a ferry in Dublin.

Two men, aged 21 and 30 and from Dublin's north side, were arrested and later released. A file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
