A motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries following a crash with a car that was allegedly uninsured and not roadworthy has settled his High Court action for €775,000 damages.

The settlement was made without admission of liability.

The court was told Glen Broughan suffers from continuous pain, has little or no power in the right side of his body, can only walk very short distances and requires a wheelchair as a result of the injuries.

Mr Broughan (34), a mechanic, Mangan Road, Hollyfort, Gorey, Co Wexford, had sued the driver of the car, Christopher Walsh, of Ballyday, Gorey, Co Wexford, and the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland for damages over the crash on the Coolgreany to Arklow road on June 19th, 2003.
