Rangoon - Burma's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) said yesterday 783 of its members had been detained by the military government since late May.
"Two elected representatives and 79 . . . members of the NLD were detained between September 11th and September 14th, bringing the total number to 783," the party's central executive committee said. The 783 detainees comprise "196 elected representatives and 587 other members".
