Zurich - Eight people were killed and four injured when two helicopters carrying sightseers collided over western Switzerland yesterday.
Police in the Alpine canton of Valais said the Air Glaciers helicopters collided while preparing to land and plunged on to a soccer field. A spokesman said one Swiss pilot had died and the other victims were Indian tourists.
The Swiss SDA news agency said the accident was Switzerland's worst helicopter crash. The helicopters came down in full view of other members of the group of 60 Indians, who were waiting to take part in the five-minute sightseeing tours.
