Zamboanga - Eight people were killed and two others wounded in separate weekend attacks by Muslim separatists in the southern Philippines, the military said yesterday.
Moro Islamic Liberation Front guerrillas waylaid a group of farmers on their way to harvest crops in the town of Bukanon in Lanao del Norte province and opened fire using high-powered automatic rifles. Seven people, including a 15-year-old boy, died on the spot, while an eighth person, a woman, survived despite being hit several times.
