The Zanussi national bridge team championship (Holmes Wilson Trophy), with a first prize worth £800, will be decided over three sessions in the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, on February 27th-28th, starting at 1.30 p.m.

Along with prizes for 2nd, 3rd and the final session, there also will be generous awards for the best women's, men's, mixed, master and intermediate team.

The event is open to players of the Inter A grade upwards. Entries: Paul Porteous (01-2697275).

The St Malachy's Old Boys' Association, Belfast, will run its 19th two-session open pairs championship, with a fund of £1,250 - including a £200 sterling first prize - in the Dunadry Inn on February 28th (1.30 p.m.). The annual inter-golf club bridge team championship (Mollie Fox Cup) will be played at Milltown GC, Dublin, on the nights of March 4th and 11th.

All team members must belong to the same golf club. Helen Boland (01-2962620) will accept entries. A nine-hole Stableford singles will be run on the afternoon of March 11th.

The Dun Laoghaire club's open inter A and B two-session team championship (O'Kennedy Cup) will be held at 2 Clarinda Park North on March 7th (2 p.m.). Entries: Barry Hogsett (01-2857853).
