The Abbey theatre is now operating on a "sound financial footing" according to its chairman, Mr James Hickey. He was speaking at the theatre's annual general meeting. Mr Hickey said the results to the end of June 1997 showed substantial increases in box office revenue, particularly with The Importance of Being Earnest and Tarry Flynn.
