A High Court action alleging negligence by the Southern Health Board arising from the death of a baby boy has been settled with an admission of liability and undisclosed damages. The baby died the day after he was born at Erinville Maternity Hospital, Cork.
The board was sued as controller of the hospital where the baby, Cian Crowley, was born on January 26th, 1996.
The baby's mother, Ms Deirdre Crowley, of Kanturk, Co Cork, had sued for damages for personal injuries sustained by her on January 25th and 26th, 1996, following the death of Cian. Ms Crowley also claimed damages under the Civil Liability Acts.
