The Sinn Fein president, Mr Gerry Adams, met the committee members of Donegal Celtic Football Club on Sunday. He said that exchanges were "friendly and constructive". However, he maintained his stance that the club should not play against the RUC as, in his view, this would legitimise an unacceptable police force. "No one should associate with the RUC on any level," he said.
Mr Adams added that the local community had "legitimately sought to influence Donegal Celtic on this issue."
