Sinn Féin president Mr Gerry Adams will today review the peace process at an informal meeting with the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern.
They are due to meet on the fringes of an event marking the Special Olympics summer games next year.
Sinn Féin said the two leaders would discuss the current round of multiparty talks to restore devolution in Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland has been without a devolved government since October 15th when the former Northern Ireland Secretary, Dr John Reid, suspended the power-sharing administration and assembly in a bid to prevent a unionist walkout that would have led to its collapse.
Since then, republicans have been under pressure to declare an end to all paramilitary activity by the IRA.
The Ulster Unionists insist they will not return to government with Sinn Féin until they are certain the IRA will eventually cease all paramilitary operations.
