Desktop publishing software provider Adobe Systems said today it should meet its fiscal third-quarter earnings targets but it could take a hit on revenue because of weaker-than-expected conditions across its product lines.

Adobe said after a "solid" June, US revenue was weaker than expected in July, and Japanese revenue in July fell more than its reduced expectations. Adobe said revenue from Europe, which began slowing in April, stabilised during the first two months of the quarter.

In June, the company had forecast third-quarter revenue would be flat against last year's $329.9 million. The quarter ends August 31st.

"Despite the global economic conditions and its potential effect on our third quarter revenue, Adobe is on track to meet its bottom line target for the quarter," Adobe President and chief executive Mr Bruce Chizen said in a statement.
