IMPACT has notified the company of the 24-hour strike action which will affect an estimated 145 to 190 flights.

The airline confirmed this evening that a pilot had been suspended for non-compliance with new rostering arrangements.

Last week Aer Lingus pilots voted to reject new work practices put forward by an independent consultant following negotiations at the Labour Relations Commission in February.

A spokeswoman for the company this evening said new work practices are being introduced by Aer Lingus after a six-month process of direct negotiations and endorsement by the Labour Relations Commission and an independent agreed arbitrator.

She said the new work practices are a core part of the Aer Lingus Survival Plan and the company is committed to implementing them in full.
