FOR the first time Aer Lingus has introduced a family fare to the United States. Two adults, two children and two infants can travel to New York or Boston from £999 return.
Compared with current fares families can save up to 36 per cent under the scheme, which includes an increase in the child age limit from 12 to 18 years. The package follows last month's announcement by Aer Lingus that it will double services to Chicago and add new flights to the New York and Boston routes this year.
According to Mr David Bunworth, marketing director at Aer Lingus, over 100,000 "low fare" seats will be made available in 1997, an increase of more than 20 per cent on last year.
The USA 97 fares, covering the period March 21st to October 31st, went on sale yesterday. Tickets must be booked before February 28th.
As well as savings for families, they offer discounts of between 15 per cent and 30 per cent for individual travellers.
