Aer Lingus saw its passenger numbers rise 0.6 per cent to 665,000 in January compared with a year earlier.
The carrier’s short haul passenger numbers rose 3.8 per cent to 608,000 while long haul passengers fell 23 per cent to 57,000.
The load factor - a measure of how well it is filling seats - was 67.4 per cent, up 3.1 percentage points, it said today.
Shares in the airline rose some 3 per cent on the Dublin market this morning following the announcement.
