Aer Lingus named airline of year in awards

Aer Lingus has been voted Airline of the Year and the Best Value for Money Airline by the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland.

Aer Lingus has been voted Airline of the Year and the Best Value for Money Airline by the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland.

The annual awards given out following the Airline of the Year Survey of 1,000 companies in Ireland examined service levels on route into and out of the State.

Mr Willie Walsh, Aer Lingus chief executive, welcomed the awards saying: "This is a vote of confidence in Aer Lingus from a very important customer sector, the business community".

Aer Lingus was also judged the best airline on transatlantic routes.

Other airlines to win awards included BMI for Best Airline on London and UK Routes, and Ryanair for Best Online Services.

Lufthansa won the award for the best service on routes to Europe, Middle East and Africa while Cork was voted the best Irish airport.
