Operative staff at Aer Lingus have voted to accept a Labour Court offer giving them a £25-a-week pay rise. The outcome of the ballot, announced last evening, shows 55 per cent voted in favour. The 1,300 workers will also get a £500 lump-sum payment and there will be significant improvements on shift allowances for new employees and a new incremental structure, including long-service increments.
Mr Tony Walsh of SIPTU, the union representing those balloted, said the pay increases were in addition to rises provided for under the PPF.
Aer Lingus said it was a significant step forward in resolving the key issues facing the company.
Meanwhile, talks aimed at settling a pay claim by Aer Lingus cabin crew, who are members of the IMPACT trade union, will resume on Monday at the Labour Court.
