A roadside bomb killed five Afghan civilians and wounded another while they were travelling in a taxi in the southern Afghan province of Helmand today.
The attack occurred on a road between the provincial capital Lashkar Gah and the district of Girishk and killed a woman, a child and three men.
Separately, two Afghan policemen were killed and three others were wounded by a roadside bomb blast in the southern city of Kandahar yesterday evening.
A total of 1,977 civilians were killed in insurgency-related violence in Afghanistan last year, according to Afghan NGO Safety Office. The Taliban killed more than 950 civilians.
