AN AGE-enhanced photograph of Trevor Deely has been produced in an effort to find the young man who went missing in Dublin 10 years ago next week.

His family have renewed their appeal for the public’s help in finding out what happened to him.

Mr Deely, a bank employee from Naas, Co Kildare, disappeared after a Christmas party on December 8th, 2000. He would be 32 now.

The last sighting of him was at 4.15am when CCTV footage showed him crossing Baggot Street Bridge and heading towards Haddington Road.

His father Michael said the family were still “none the wiser” 10 years after his disappearance. But he said they still hoped they might get good news some day. “We can’t give up hope. You don’t do that to a family member. We still hope that someone, somewhere, can help.”

The family will hold a candlelit prayer and liturgy service in Ballycane, Naas, next Tuesday, led by Fr John Brickley. They have also set up a Facebook page in Mr Deely’s name, to reach out to younger people who might not remember his disappearance.

A major land and water search was mounted by gardaí and friends and family of Mr Deely after he went missing.

A stretch of the Grand Canal between Leeson Street and the Grand Canal Basin at Ringsend was drained and the river Dodder was searched as it had been a wet and stormy night when he went missing.

Anyone with information on Mr Deely’s disappearance has been asked to contact Pearse Street Garda station at 01-6669000 or any Garda station.
