AIB will open one of its two branches in Grafton Street, Dublin, next Saturday. A spokesman for the group said yesterday it would be the first time a main retail banking outlet would be open for business on a Saturday. The spokesman added that Saturday opening for more branches would be announced shortly. AIB has operations in several supermarkets, which are open on Saturday. Banking services are also available at weekends at Dublin, Shannon and Cork Airports.
The bank's spokesman declined to say what arrangements had been entered into with staff to secure their agreement to work on Saturdays.
