Baghdad - Nine Iraqis were killed and 23 injured in air raids carried out yesterday by US and British planes in northern and southern Iraq, an Iraqi military spokesman said. Most of the casualties were in the north, where six people died and 21 were injured, the spokesman said, quoted by the official INA news agency.
Earlier, the US European Command based in Stuttgart, Germany, said US F-15 and F-16 fighter jets acting in "self-defence" had bombed anti-aircraft artillery sites north and northwest of the Iraqi second city of Mosul after coming under fire during a routine patrol.
